About
My name is Lance Cooper and I have recently finished studying a Bachelor of Media Arts majoring in Digital Media at Wintec, Hamilton. In this course I specialised in web design, interactive design, animation and a range of other digital practices, including graphic design and moving image. I absolutely love what I do and over the past 3 years have worked on several projects in and outside of tech involving these mediums.
Skills
One of my study focuses was animation, which I really enjoy. I have completed projects in both 2D and 3D animation utilising Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D as well as a cocktail of other suitable applications. I have also done projects involving vector animation and interactive design in Flash, which I feel is a very important skill. I can write actionscript and code webpages as well as animations in Flash.
I have also created several websites for commercial enterprises. I have worked with clients through the entire process, from concept to completion. I have had very positive feedback from everyone I have worked with. I work well under direction and also offer constructive criticism where it is due. My websites are light, clean and accessible.
Experience
Earlier this year I completed an internship at Digital Masters in Auckland. I worked for 3 weeks, and got a very good vision of what is required of you in the industry. At Digital Masters I was quickly placed into a real working environment where I was responsible for animation of television commercials, DVD authoring, animatic mockups and a range of other in-house tasks. I worked closely with the producer and editor and had after a few days felt like I was one of the team. Several of my advertisements were later broadcast on television, and a lot of my work was used for pitches, seminars, and went straight to the clients.
Other than this, I have had experience working with clients through web design. I have nurtured great client relationships, and have had several new clients solely through word of mouth. I deal with client’s initial requests, conceptualise them, and then work with them to develop this concept into a final product. I feel this is a good starting point to entering the workforce. I have an understanding of the importance of communication between involved parties, especially when explaining hard to grasp concepts to clients, and interacting and understanding their needs.
I work in a broad range of software and use Photoshop, Dreamweaver, After Effects, Flash, Cinema 4D, Illustrator, Final Cut and other industry standard design applications. I am very confident in using all these programmes, which have helped me to become well rounded. I always complete tasks asked of me on time and to a high standard.
